St. George Orthodox Church is a local parish community of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. We are part of the ancient Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch where “the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch” as St. Luke records in the Book of Acts (11:26). Also, our parish community is part of a global “sisterhood” of Orthodox churches from various countries and lands in the world, such as Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine and the Middle East, especially Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine. There are over 250 million Eastern Orthodox Christians worldwide, and 1 million in the United States.

Our parish community has been in the Terre Haute area for 95 years (as of 2022), having been started by immigrant Syrian families who settled in the early 20th century. First and foremost, our Church is the place that our members come to worship the True and Living God. The parish community also provides a variety of ministries to our members, as well as charitable works to the Greater Terre Haute community.

We invite you to join us for worship, education, outreach, and fellowship at any of our services, activities, or events. Feel free to contact our Church Office (812-232-5244) to schedule an appointment with our pastor, Very Rev. Fr. Amin Houli.
